Who is  EMP (Emergency Medical Planning)?

EMP Canada is a national office located in British Columbia and affiliated with EMP International, located in the USA. EMP has both Federal and Provincial recognition in Canada (WSIB and other provincial endorsements available upon request).

Why should you use the EMP training programs?

The medically based training and standards conform to meet provincial and federal government regulations for health care in business and industrial settings throughout Canada. Our programs are used to meet requirements for first aid training in the workplace and are recognized among the finest first aid & cardiopulmonary resuscitation training programs in the world today.

Our courses are taught in a positive, relaxed atmosphere where students learn without being intimidated and are given positive reinforcement and encouragement throughout each phase of the program. This method of instruction is utilized along with teaching the essential skills of patient care in the order in which they will be used in a real situation. Studies have consistently shown that our graduates are generally not stopped from rendering aid to a patient, owing to their fear of doing the wrong thing.

Our Instructors can train you and your employees, family and friends to the latest and the same medical standards that physicians, paramedics and nurses use in real life emergencies. We will teach you to respond to any emergency, from the minor to the most serious, including heart attack and cardiac arrest. We also offer all the Heart & Stroke Foundation CPR Courses.

About Our Training Style

The EMP Medic First Aid family of program's use seeing, hearing and doing as the learning model. Student's learn sequence, priority and framework as a normal part of the practices.

Most first aid courses take many hours to complete. In many cases this is due to excessive lecture time or tedious workbook time.

"Seeing, hearing and doing" is the hallmark to the EMP easy learning program for adults. The educational model allows most people to learn from this program whether they read well or not. This program also considers those for whom English is a second language.

Do you have an emergency response plan?

A tragic scenario...

A young woman collapsed due to a medication reaction and was not breathing. Someone in the high rise office building called for help. The rescue unit responded but no one in the building knew how to help her and they did not have a plan to access the in-house trained personnel. Precious moments passed and when the rescue unit arrived, the patient was in cardiac arrest. The rescue paramedics revived the woman but too much time had passed and now she lives in a coma. The building did not have an emergency response plan! Here in Ontario, Government regulations require that every employer provide and maintain at the place of employment a first aid station that is, at all times in the charge of a worker who is the holder of a recognized first aid certificate. The size and type of business will determine the number of people you will need to have trained.

First Response can help you prepare an emergency response plan for your business no matter how small, so that your employee's are equipped with the basic first aid and CPR skills and trained to a comfort level where they are not afraid to render aid to someone in need.
